I think it is entirely acceptable to burp after a meal. Although, I'm not sure enough to try.
I just got out of a point, gesture, and grunt conversation with the cook. I understood one word "sappadu", which means food. I think he was looking for someone. There is nothing like a language barrier to make you feel very ignorant about the world. I would really like to learn Tamil. You'll find me tonight with my internet pdfs learning the alphabet.
The more I learn about the world, the more I realize how little I know about it. But I didn't make that one up.

Hey there Nichole!! Boy do I sympathize with your desire to learn Tamil...in Vietnam there was hardly anything more frustrating than wanting to communicate in Vietnamese. I've studied a little bit, but going back found me in conversations still mainly comprised of grunting and pointing! I'm sure your smile says enough, though! Stay safe, girl!!
